IZIKO LOBOMI - Centre of Life - 24 x 7 x 365! The HBCCA was able to install a web camera in the main hall in September 2015 thanks to a sponsorship received from Gartner Africa For the first time everyone get the full picture of what our facilities really mean to the community of Imizamo Yethu. The following photographs are only a small number taken over a period of four months. Iziko Lobomi is truly a... CENTRE OF LIFE!

Brick by Brick: A Story of Hope! A Gartner Africa Community Upliftment Project
In response to the need expressed by unemployed and unskilled men in the community of Imizamo Yethu for opportunities to be better equipped, the HBCCA approached Gartner Africa for funds to train six men in the skill of Bricklaying. Gartner Africa responded generously and a two-week training session kicked off on Monday 14 September 2015. This is the largest training project in the history of Iziko Lobomi offered specifically for men. These skills will open valuable new opportunities for these men giving them new hope and making them proud! Of the six men that started the training, the following five completed it successfully:

Youth Development Programme Meeting at Iziko Lobomi
The Western Cape Government is also reaching out to the community of Imizamo Yethu with their Youth Development Programme to assist youth between the ages of 14 and 25 years of age who are not in education, not in employment or training. This age group is currently mainly responsible for the wave of crime and violence that has created chaos and much fear in parts of Imizamo Yethu. Police Pledges Their Full Support to IY Community
A meeting attended by several high ranking police officers from the Department of Police was held at Iziko Lobomi on Thursday evening (30 July 2015) during which the residents of Imizamo Yethu were assured that the Department of Police will and is doing everything in their power to maintain law and order in the community. This meeting followed after several serious criminal incidents in and around Imizamo Yethu of which one was the fatal stabbing of a 27-year old Congolese student earlier in the month. The police encouraged community members to join their local Neighbourhood Watch and to report any suspicious behaviour or activities. The community are the eyes and ears of the police and without their cooperation the fight against crime in the community will not be successful. Sentinel Newspaper article on incident ...
