Iziko Lobomi Welfare

One of the major roles which Iziko Lobomi plays in the community of Imizamo Yethu is the fact that any person in need knows that they will find a helping hand at the Centre of Life. Whether it is food, clothes, plastic for a damaged home, advice on personal issues – they will find help. Especially people in need of food due to sickness, old-age, unemployment, or poverty know that they will be able to find something nutritious to eat at Iziko Lobomi. Every day meals are provided at very affordable prices – R1 for a plate of cooked food (or provided free if necessary).

Food parcels are also handed out once a week. Most of the funding for these food parcels comes from monthly donations received from local churches. Food are also received from time to time from local Supermarkets such as Woolworths and Checkers and SPAR which are distributed to people in need at the Centre.
