On Thursday morning 31st October
2013 at 10am, a fire caused by a heater, broke out in the Iziko Lobomi craft shop
situated at Iziko Lobomi. The craft shop was not occupied at the time and
fortunately no one was hurt. However when the Fire Fighters put out the flames
it also extinguished the hopes and vision of a local designer and her co-worker
(Lynne and Jevas). The entire stock and fittings were destroyed by the fiery
inferno.
The shop which sold, and made
on-site, original crafted items and curios was a great attraction to the
tourists who visit Iziko Lobomi. There is no insurance and funding available
for repairs is limited. Not only will funds be needed for the reinstatement of
the shop with its stock, but funds will also be needed to assist the craft shop
owner and her employee with income while the shop is restored.
The HBCCA would like to make an
appeal to all our friends and supporters for your help. Should
you be able to contribute to this cause by either donations, materials or muscle
power please contact the office at Iziko Lobomi on +27 21 790 5827 (9am - 1pm on
weekdays). Monetary contributions can be made directly into our bank account :
HBCCA, Standard Bank Acc. no. 07 1103 627, Branch Code 02
41 09. Please insert: 'Craft Shop Fire'
as reference to your deposit. For donations from outside the Republic of South
Africa, please click here....
There is no doubt in our minds
that God will enable us through the funds available and the generous support of
our supporters, to have this shop up and running in no time and to have it ready
for the Christmas season in a couple of week's time.
Thank you very much in
anticipation!
