The Panda Crèche
Receives a Welcome New Year's Gift

|
For many years we have been
faced with the need to provide a space outside for the toddlers from
the Panda Crèche to play. To get out in the sun, get some fresh air
and get some exercise.
Two things prompted the idea
for this beautiful addition to our Centre. The first prompt started
with a donation we received in January from a very loyal Gartner
employee (previously from Hout Bay) that now lives in Australia,
Sarah Largier. The second prompt came from our vegetable garden that
got very neglected after the closure of our office at the end of
last year.
We decided that this was our
opportunity! With the help of our local maintenance handyman,
Matthews Simayele, we backfilled the three beds, plastered a thin
concrete layer on top, did some painting and added some artificial
grass.
With the help of another
local supporter, Rene' Jacobs we were able to buy some plastic
playground toys to round the playground beautifully off and the end
result... SPEAKS FOR ITSELF !!! |

Ready to Serve the Poor and Hungry

|
This beautiful steel serving hatch was
supplied and made, free of charge, by a local metalworker, Andre' du Plooy. It will now be possible for us to serve people from our
kitchen without them having to physically come onto the premises.
HERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY
We want to encourage
organisations, churches and individuals to consider sponsoring and
running a soup-kitchen service to the poor and needy members in the
Imizamo Yethu and Hout Bay community. This service can be free of
charge or at a nominal charge.
The HBCCA doesn't have the resources or
manpower anymore to deliver such a service. Here is a wonderful
opportunity for outsiders. It will be safe and we have a well
equipped, modern kitchen all ready to your disposal.

“Then the righteous will answer him,
‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,
or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger
and invite you in,
or needing clothes and clothe you?
39 When did we see you sick or in
prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply,
‘Truly I tell
you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers
and
sisters of mine, you did for me.’
